Greetings all who dare venture to my site for one last vigil. I thank you greatly for your money,
er I mean patronage. Thanks for all the comments from friends and family, new and old, I give you all an extra high
five. All were warmly recieved and I am honoured to have been your host. Should the Environment Canada/Air Force/University
grinder make grade A beef then I shall return to Sable Island. This time I will know
to pack a good set of speakers, an extra set of razorblades, and long johns one size bigger.
P.S. Did anybody else watch "Jesus Christ, Vampire Hunter" last week on the Movie Network for the
SECOND TIME or do I just have way too much time on my hands...?

February 11, 2006
And so it ends, three months. Feels like it was three years, feels like it was three days...
Winter finally came to bid me farewell, could've gone without that... It did however allow me to respect the
mettle of these once forgotten horses. One day it was plus 10 and I'm on the beach with my shoes off, pants rolled up, two
days later its -10 and the wind is howling like a beast. There is no shelter here whatsoever and it is quite a feat that
only 50 of the 350 ponies die each year, of course to be replaced in May.
And oh those wiley seals. Hiding under the stairs, hiding under the bridges, hiding in the tall grass, opening
fence gates, and scaring the crap outta me in the middle of the night. The grass is tall here, up to a couple feet high in
places, and you can see the trails made by the pups as they criss-cross across the island. Now no more worries, no more
being chased off the boardwalks, no more leaping quickly through blocked doors, and no more cute snuggly photographs thats
for sure.
Well there is always next time, but until then you can find me in the pub, and at the hockey game, and downtown
shopping, as long as there are people, lots of people. Thank you all for your support and may the clouds never be cumulonimbus
nor the wind qualify as a squall, cheerio.
MIKE
This little guy caused major gridlock on the main highway here on Sable.

Feb 11 2006 Weekly Grumbles...
Weekly Rant: Cheers to the cranberries of Sable Island, may your bogs be forever near freezing and just
slightly deeper than the height of my boots.
Washed-up Litter of the Week: A blue plastic Inuit army man. Yes, an Eskimo GI Joe...only on Sable...
Food Warehouse Item of the Week: Beets...pickled AND cubed, could you ask for more? Good thing
we had nachos here...
The FINAL Tally...
Hours Playing Pool: 42
Hours Playing Darts: 11
Hours Spent Hiking: 33
Times I Ate Nachos for Dinner: 15
So in short, every day I shot 30 minutes of pool, played 8 minutes of darts, hiked for 20 minutes, and ate
nachos every 6th day. Boy am I proud.
